Racenet - Nic Ashman - Saturday, 11 June 2011
The Chris Waller-trained Startreusse led his rivals a merry dance when saluting in the Bates Bikes Handicap (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday.
The colt raced in the famous all cerise colours of the Inghams after he was purchased following his debut win at Canterbury on May 18.
The son of Starcraft showed early speed to lead comfortably from Gelido and Zastabelle before being given a breather by jockey Jason Collett coming to the home turn.
In the straight, Startreusse bounded away and scored a soft win beating Strike The Stars with Ima Secret getting up for third.
"Plenty of horses can go as quick as him but 99 percent don't go for as long,” Waller said.
"He'll have a short break now, we'll put him in a nice race, I think a race like the San Domenico would be ideal.”
"He's by Starcraft out of a Danehill mare, you see his attitude before and after the race. I think that will help the horse a lot down the track.”
