The build-up to next month’s Inglis Ready2Race Sale continues to gather momentum, with times and video footage of last week’s breeze up sessions at Warwick Farm and Eagle Farm now available online.
At Warwick Farm on Friday, 78 horses breezed on the polytrack with 2YOs by both proven and young stallions starring.
The fastest of the 200m breezes was lot 235 (Encryption x Love In Spring), with the colt clocking a slick time of 10.27secs.
The colt is being prepared by Valiant Stud for the sale – Valiant had three of the four fastest horses to breeze at Warwick Farm along with a Justify x Peaceful Sea colt (10.29secs) and a More Than Ready x Amplified colt (10.40secs).
Rob Quinn, who has been working in conjunction with Valiant Stud’s Fergal Connolly with these breeze up horses, was adamant this year’s draft would produce a number of quality horses.
“We had five breeze [Friday] and we’re delighted with how they went. We liked them from the moment they walked into the stable and they ran super times,’’ Quinn said.
“We hadn’t put huge pressure on them at home coming into this and all of that showed out there with the times they ran on the track. They’ve all got huge upside.’’
On the fastest lot of the session (lot 235), Quinn added: “He’s a really smart type who came from the Classic Sale and from day dot he just had a great mind for it.
“That’s indicative of his pedigree, it backs it up and you could see in his breeze he gets low down and finds the line, he’s a real running 2YO.’’
The third-fastest time at Warwick Farm was clocked by lot 174 (Smart Missile x Firebird Flyer) of Woodpark Stud, a colt who breezed in 10.39secs.
“I’m very pleased, he did it easy, we didn’t push him hard at all,’’ Woodpark’s Jean Dubois said.
“He pulled up really well and like the others, he’ll just be kept in slow, easy work now until the sale.’’
The breeze up action headed north to Eagle Farm on Wednesday where eight youngsters galloped on the dirt track.
The fastest breeze was lot 62 (More Than Ready x State of Play) for A List Stud, with the filly clocking 10.80secs.
She was one of four 2YOs to breeze for A List on Wednesday, all of which impressed the stud’s Allan Chau.
“They all performed admirably, we were really happy overall but the More Than Ready filly especially was very impressive,’’ Chau said.
“She’s always shown a lot of ability, she’s very forward and she breezed accordingly. She actually did a 400m course proper jump-out about three weeks ago, a video of which will be on the Inglis website and you can see in that video just how ready to go she is.
“She’s such a neat filly, athletic, not too heavy, just a really good-sized 2YO filly. She’s everything you want in a 2YO filly, she’s even got a bit of sass about her which is a good trait and as she’s suggested to me from day one, I think she’s pretty special.’’
The videos of those gallops will be on the Inglis website by Wednesday afternoon.
Inglis Senior Bloodstock Consultant Harry Bailey was very pleased with the outcome of both breeze-up sessions.
“It is hard not to be excited about the sale after the session at Warwick Farm on Friday in particular given the feeling is that there were some proper horses in action.
“Sentiment amongst those preparing the horses for the sale is very positive across the board and interest in the sale is at an unprecedented level at this stage, from international investors in particular.
“The tracks at Eagle Farm and Warwick Farm rode a little slower than in previous years, but I think anyone reviewing the footage will be impressed by what they see.”
