Strong Trade Continues at Newmarket

Day Two of the three day 2012 Inglis Australian Weanling and Bloodstock Sale was completed in Sydney today, with strong results continuing through the General Session Weanling and Select Session Broodmares offered at Newmarket.

A further 99 weanlings were sold from in General Session offerings today at a clearance rate 90%, adding another $637,000 to the sale gross. With the addition of private sales completed from Wednesday’s Select Session the total number of weanlings sold at Newmarket in Sydney over the past two days finished at 259, for total receipts of $4,502,250.

“Thanks to the support of vendors we were able to offer 11% more weanlings this year than in 2012, and buyers flocked to the sale with the aggregate up 29%,” said Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster.

“The top nine weanlings today were all sold to interstate or overseas clients, a great indication of the spread of buying bench assembled here in Sydney,” Webster added.

Holbrook Thoroughbreds’ colt by Tale Of The Cat from Summer Angel, Lot 323, fetched the highest price in the weanling section today when selling to a client of Inglis’ for $42,000.

New Zealand based bloodstock agent Michael Wallace had great success pinhooking weanlings from Sydney last year to sell as yearlings, and was back today purchasing colts by Onemorenomore Lot 260 and I Am Invincible Lot 251 for $40,000 and $23,000 respectively.

The Select Session Broodmares were also offered today, with the final mare through the ring, Lot 690, bringing the highest price of $125,000. Presented by Newgate Farm as agent, the stakes placed Fastnet Rock mare Teardrop Rock (pictured) was purchased by Think Big Stud.

The demand for bloodstock affiliated with G1 Newmarket Hcp winner Wanted also continued, with Paul Willets securing Lot 373, the good producing mare Eliza Park, in foal to the impressive son of Fastnet Rock for $82,500. Eliza Park is already the dam of four named foals, all winners including Group 3 winner Gabbidon.

In all 76 broodmares were exchanged today for $966,600 at a clearance rate of 81%.

All weanlings and broodmares that passed-in over the last two days are still available via the Inglis Make-An-Offer service.

Friday 29 June marks the third and final day of the 2012 Inglis Australian Weanling and Bloodstock Sale, with plenty on offer for everyone.

75 General Session Broodmares, 1 stallion, 124 yearlings, 7 unbroken stock and 60 racehorses have been catalogued for sale tomorrow. The online catalogue can be viewed HERE
