Strong trade the theme as five day GSS concludes

A mare and a filly selling for $240,000 and $210,000 respectively highlighted the final day of the 2018 Inglis Great Southern Sale.

Jon Freyer purchased Lot 935, broodmare Villa Rosa (Exceed and Excel x Truly Wicked, pictured) for $240,000 from Blue Gum Farm.

While Randwick Bloodstock purchased Lot 900, stakes-winning filly Blue Morpho (Hussonet x High Butterfly) for $210,000 from the draft of Angas River Contractors Pty Ltd.

In total, 798 horses were sold in the five day auction at a clearance rate of 82% and an average of $19,897.

Inglis Victorian Bloodstock Manager Simon Vivian was thrilled with the sales results of the 2018 Great Southern Sale.

“I think it was a very fair market, well balanced between vendors and purchasers,” Vivian said.

“The competition on many of the prized lots of the sale was outstanding.

“We had a record number of entries for the sale this year and to see the strong buying, across all sessions of the sale has been very pleasing.

“We thank both the vendors and purchasers for their support.”

Woodside Park Stud were the leading vendor throughout the sale, selling all 40 of their offerings for a gross of $1,892,400.

Starting tomorrow, the sales arena and restaurant of Inglis’ Oaklands complex will undergo extensive renovations ahead of the 2019 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
