Stronger Chance Bye Begins Spring Prep

Fairytale filly Chance Bye has returned to trainer Mick Tubman's Kembla Grange stables to begin her spring preparation.

Chance Bye spelled at Kanahooka on the Illawarra coast after her first career loss when ninth in the Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill in April.

Tubman says the pint sized filly with the stable name of “Chicken” has taken a lot of benefit from her time in the paddocks, growing out and putting on good condition.

"She's a bit woolly in the coat but she'll trim up pretty quick," Tubman said.

Chance Bye was the early sensation of the two-year-old season in Sydney, recording brilliant wins in her first three starts including the Inglis Classic and Silver Slipper Stakes before cracking under the pressure in the Golden Slipper where she finished ninth.

It has been well publicised that Tubman bought the filly at the Inglis Classic sale for $15,000 without the funds to pay for her. His long time stable client Jack Knight stepped in to pay for the filly and then gave back a half share to the trainer.

Chance Bye has since returned $480,000 in prizemoney from just four starts.

Tubman is confident a stronger Chance Bye will train on as a three-year-old and expects her to be highly competitive in the early Group races for the age group.

The flying filly is likely to resume in the G2 San Domenico Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on August 7 or the G2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm on August 21.
