Stunning Saturday for Inglis grads

Sense Of Occasion’s Group 1 Doomben Cup victory was the highlight of a spectacular day of Stakes successes for Inglis graduates world-wide the past 24 hours.

KENEDNA (Not A Single Doubt x Miss Dodwell).

Kenedna remains on track for the Queensland Oaks following her strong win in today’s major lead-up, the Group 2 Doomben Roses (2000m).

The 3YO filly had to do it the hard way, surviving a protest from second-placed Oklahoma Girl before being declared the winner.

Kenedna, bred by Arrowfield Pastoral, was an $80,000 buy for her trainer Darren Weir from Arrowfield Stud’s draft at the 2015 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale draft.

I’LL HAVE A BIT (Smart Missile x Take All Of Me)

Broke her maiden status and earned black-type at the same time at just start No.4 when winning the Group 3 National Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville.

Bred by Ken Breese, the 2YO filly was a $48,000 buy for Redgum Racing from the Basinghall Farm draft at the 2016 Inglis VOBIS Gold Sale.

BURNING FRONT (Primus x She’s A Knockout)

He’s an absolute winner!

Burning Front claimed his 18th career win at his 48th start when claiming the Group 3 RA Lee Stakes (1600m) at Morphettville.

It was also his seventh win from his past eight starts for the Darren Weir-trained gelding.

Burning Front is a graduate of the 2012 Inglis Autumn Sale, where he was offered by Caithness Breeding.

He has now won $1,265,000.

FUHRYK (Star Witness x Fuhrnatic)

Fuhryk gave jockey Craig Williams four winners for the day in Adelaide when he cruised to victory in the Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville.

Fuhryk, bred by Saconi Thoroughbreds, is building an ominous record, with today’s win her fifth from nine starts for $436,000 prizemoney.

She was bought by Lindsay Park Racing for $60,000 at the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale from the Rosemont Stud draft.

ROCK MAGIC (Redoute’s Choice x Rockabubble)

Perth sprinter Rock Magic appreciated a return to his home track and a drop back in class to comfortably win today’s Group 3 Roma Cup (1200m) at Ascot.

The 7YO had had two previous runs this campaign, in the Group 1 TJ Smith at Randwick behind Chautauqua and Group 1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley behind Silent Sedition.

Bred by Arrowfield Pastoral Pty Ltd and Planette Thoroughbred, Rock Magic was a member of Arrowfield Stud’s 2011 Australian Easter Yearling Sale draft.

TIME TO TEST (Testa Rossa x Silk Shantung)

The Parsons Creek Farm-bred 6YO kept his consistent record in tact with a stirring win in the Listed Port Adelaide Cup (2500m) at Morphettville.

Time To Test cost his trainer Tony McEvoy just $25,000 at the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Southern Cross Breeders.

He has now raced 19 times for seven wins and six second-placings for career earnings of $315,000.

DE LITTLE ENGINE (Encosta de Lago x Arapaho Miss)

There were few more impressive winners Australia-wide today than De Little Engine, who put four lengths on his opposition in the Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes (3200m) at Flemington.

De Little Engine (pictured) is a graduate of the Inglis Australian Select Weanling Sale, where Uluru Stud bought him for $47,500 from Amarina Farm’s draft.

He was bred by SF Bloodstock.

TASHBEEH (Commands x More Valour)

Shadwell Stud enjoyed another Stakes success when Commands entire Tashbeeh held off all challengers to claim the Listed Straight Six (1200m) at Flemington.

Shadwell paid $520,000 for the Dean Fleming-bred Tashbeeh – who was offered by Tyreel Stud – at the Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

The win was Tashbeeh’s first black-type success, proving invaluable to a looming stud career.

TEN GUN SALUTE (Henrythenavigator x Ladybird Blue)

Earlier this morning Ten Gun Salute surged into Durban July contention with a devastating victory in the Group 2 Betting World (1900m) at Greyville in South Africa.

The Duncan Howells-trained gelding is now the winner of four races, with this morning’s success his second Stakes victory, having previously been successful in the Listed Michael Roberts Handicap last year.

Owned by Mrs H Kuhn and Red Jack Trading Pty Ltd, Ten Gun Salute was purchased by Heritage Bloodstock for a bargain price of $10,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the Supreme Thoroughbreds draft.

Ten Gun Salute was bred by Peter Howell of Beauvest Pty Ltd in Victoria and showed a dazzling turn of foot for jockey Muzi Yeni to easily claim the Group 2.

The Durban July is South Africa’s premier horse racing event, held annually on the first Saturday in July at Greyville.
