The inaugural Inglis VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale got off to a successful start in Melbourne on Sunday, with 137 lots sold at Oaklands.
All yearlings purchased today were already paid up for Super VOBIS and eligible to enter the hugely lucrative VOBIS Gold scheme for a nomination fee of just $1,100 by 30 June.
“It was a very successful introduction to the new VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale, with an excellent buying bench bidding very competitively on the better quality yearlings offered” said Inglis Director Peter Heagney.
A 77% clearance rate was recorded on Day One of the new sale in Melbourne, with $1,876,500 traded at an average of $13,697.
“With stronger support from Victorian breeders coupled with the attractive incentives associated with the sale we certainly look forward to the VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale being a major addition to the Australian sales calendar,” added Heagney.
The top price recorded on Sunday was $70,000 paid by local Victoria trainer Jason Petch for Northern Lodge Stud’s colt by Not A Single Doubt from Meddling offered as Lot 161.
An amazing 90 individuals appeared on the buyer’s sheet at the end of the session. Victorian’s keen to cash in on the VOBIS Gold Series were the most prevalent, but buyers from Malaysia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland were also active.

The 166 lot General Session of Super VOBIS and non-Super VOBIS yearlings will be offered from 11am tomorrow, Monday 29 April. Online Bidding will again be available for those not able to make it to Oaklands.
