The End of a Record Year

2nd Dec 2004

The last auction for 2004 finished on a very strong note at Oaklands today, with one of the strongest mixed sales conducted this year.  This sale typified the buoyancy of the thoroughbred market throughout the year and augers well for the forth coming yearling sales in 2005.

Strong demand for all classes of bloodstock was the order of the day, with an excellent clearance of 92% and a Gross of $825.000.

Although the breeding season is nearing a close, there was still good enquiry for quality mares.  This section was topped by the Tate Gallery mare ‘Amelia Island’ with a foal at foot by Distant Music (USA) and in foal to Desert Sun (GB).

The first crop of yearlings by Distant Music will be sold in 2005.

The interest in the race horse section of the catalogue was as good as we have seen all year.

The good stakes winner ‘Super Groove’ realised the highest amount when sold to K.Chisholm for $40,000.

“What a great note to finish the year” quoted Victorian Manager Peter Heagney, “It is really encouraging to see the interest in our industry and we look forward with confidence to our forth coming yearling sales”.

The next Inglis sale is the Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney on 16th & 17th January, for which catalogues have just been released.
