The Inglis Summer Thoroughbred Sale – red hot sizzle

Inglis’ Summer Thoroughbred Sale at Newmarket today provided a sizzling start to the summer.

A total of $2,067,300 was traded today across 161 lots. Highlights included today’s sale toppers Serenade Lily, knocked down to Sheamus Mills for $130,000, Voltdance (pictured), who went to Paul Willetts Bloodstock for $105,000 and Lemon Ruski who found a new home at Rothwell Park for $92,500.

The sale finished with an average of $12,840 and a clearance rate of 93%. The unreserved Patinack Farm reduction sale of broodmares and racing stock was certainly a draw card for buyers. “There is no doubt that many buyers were here for Patinack Farm’s stock which grossed over $1 million” said Inglis Director Jonathan D’Arcy.

Brooklyn Lodge’s nine lot dispersal was highlighted by Serenade Lily; a half-sister to three time Group 1 winner Serenade Rose, who is in foal to Newgate Farm’s exciting young first season sire Foxwedge. Serenade Lily was offered with a Stravinsky filly foal at foot.

Today’s Sale also proved popular for those unable to attend Newmarket. Over 75 buyers registered for the online bidding service and bid on 83 individual lots. “Online bidding has really escalated in popularity since introduced by Inglis in 2008, as was seen in today’s results sheet” D’Arcy said.

Along with online bidding, the recently launched Inglis Sales iPad app is another innovation introduced by Inglis to assist buyers in their Bloodstock endeavours. The free app, gives Inglis clients cutting edge yet user-friendly access to Inglis Sales catalogues on their iPad and incorporates a range of features including; the latest pedigree updates, sharing notes and ratings via e-mail, creating, editing and sharing short lists, live sale results, photo and voice notes to name a few. Catalogues currently available on the app include next Friday’s Melbourne December Thoroughbred Sale and the 2013 Sydney Classic Yearling Sale - Summer Book. The 2013 Melbourne Premier Sale will be available next week.

Horses that passed-in at today’s sale are still available for private sale via Inglis’ Make-An-Offer Service, photos of the passed in lots can be viewed here.

The last Inglis sale for 2012 will be the Melbourne December Thoroughbred Sale, to be held at Oaklands next Friday December 14. The 139 lot catalogue (and over 50 supplementaries) can be viewed online HERE
