The Perfect Combination- Spring Racing & Ready to Run

Australia’s leading thoroughbred auctioneers William Inglis and Son Ltd will stage the 2005 Spring Carnival Ready to Run Sale in Melbourne this year, timed perfectly to coincide with the prestigious Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

“The VRC (Victorian Racing Club) put on an outstanding event that captures international attention, featuring some of the best horses, jockeys and trainers in the world. You will see great horses competing at a great venue and the addition of the Spring Carnival Ready to Run Sale makes for a perfect combination,” said Inglis Managing Director, Reg Inglis.

Timed breeze-up sessions will be held at Moonee Valley racecourse on Sunday October 30 th with the sale to follow on Monday October 31 st, the day before the running of Australia’s greatest horse race, the Melbourne Cup.

The 2005 Spring Carnival Ready to Run Sale features an exciting catalogue of more than 250 unraced two and three year olds by many of our most popular stallions.

Legendary sire Danehill (USA), has just one two year old on offer from his very last crop of horses bred to Southern Hemisphere time. The bay colt is the first foal of the young Sadler’s Wells mare star of Juniper (IRE), a winning three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group One winner and proven sire King of Kings (IRE).

His heir apparent Redoute’s Choice will be represented by a pair of two-year old colts, from Group Two winner Lodore Magic (NZ) and the Caerleon mare Soyinca (GB), dam of three winners including Group Two placed Off Guard.

Alinghi’s sire Encosta de Lago has just one entry to his credit, a dark brown filly from the former very smart racemare Jingle Bells (NZ), a stakes-placed winner of five races and over $160,000 in prizemoney.

The progeny of international sire sensation Giant’s Causeway (USA) are in keen demand all over the world and his two Australian crops represent a limited edition for local buyers.

His lone entry here is a chestnut colt from proven producer Crown Crest (GB), a full sister to outstanding European Group One winners Glint of Gold and Diamond Shoal.

A colt from the last crop of outstanding sire Grand Lodge (USA) is sure to have admirers being from Group Three winner Kilspindie, a daughter of top producer Jullene (NZ).

Running Hot

Last season’s champion first season sire More Than Ready (USA) has three two year olds to tempt buyers including a half-sister to Group Two winners Dopff and Rizon from grand producer On the Rise (NZ).

Flying Spur was the leading sire in Australia last season in terms of individual winners so you can’t afford to miss his three youngsters on offer in Melbourne. They are the half-brother to US Group Two winner Quest Star (from Tinaca (USA)), also a colt from Group Two winner Bayremah (NZ) and a filly from US stakes-winner Impatient (USA).

Golden Slipper winner Catbird is proving a sensational sire of winners and rising spring star Collate is one of his finest offspring to hit the track. The three two year olds catalogued by Catbird include the first foal (colt) of stakes-placed Roralism, a winner of six races and over $170,000.

Ill-fated sire LION HUNTER has been represented by some super smart types of late with stakes horses Ferocity and Leone Chiara making us realize just what a great loss he was to the industry. His four entries include a half-sister to stakes-placed Elfin Ace from Tiny Arch.
