The Right Race At The Right Track For Manhattan Blues

Manhattan Blues is a big, strong son of Manhattan Rain who trainer Tony McEvoy believes is about to tackle his ideal race.

A last start fourth in the Group 1 $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, Manhattan Blues will now go to the 1400-metres of the Group 2 $200,000 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Flemington this Saturday.

“I can’t fault this horse, he’s in really good order,” an upbeat Tony McEvoy told Racing Network on Thursday.

“You would think the 1400-metres at Flemington would be ideal for him,” he added.

“It looks the right race over the right distance and at the right track,” he said.

Manhattan Blues has an imposing record in his four starts, having won at Morphettville on debut, before his sixth in the Blue Diamond Prelude at William Hill Park on January 26.

He then ran second to stable-mate Stoker in the $250,000 Inglis Classic before his fourth in the Blue Diamond.

“He just might be a little under-rated this horse,” McEvoy suggested.
