550 star fillies and colts have been catalogued for the 2014 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale to be held on 8, 9 & 10 April in Sydney.
Conducted annually since 1917 the Easter Yearling Sale is the pinnacle of thoroughbred sales in the Southern Hemisphere.

“From start to finish the quality available at Easter is second to none. From sale toppers like All Too Hard to exceptional types in Session 2 like Cox Plate winner Shamus Award, there are first class racehorses throughout Easter to suit a wide range of budgets,” said Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy.
On the racetrack Easter graduates have the greatest runners to stakes winners ratio by far and off the track they continue to shape the next generation of champions.
Exceed And Excel (Champion Sire), Fastnet Rock (Champion Sire), Kenbelle (Group 1 winning dam of Boban) and Camarilla (Group 1 winning dam of Guelph) are just a few of the recent Easter stars to shine on and off the racetrack.
This year’s sale, the 98th edition, will be run between Golden Slipper Day at Rosehill Gardens and Day One of the highly anticipated ‘The Championships’ at Royal Randwick.
All the leading proven sires are heavily represented in the quality packed catalogue along with a top selection of exceptional types by a vast array of exciting young stallions.

There are 139 siblings to stakes winners catalogued, including 34 Group 1 winners such as So You Think, Starspangledbanner, Overreach, Igugu, Sepoy, Jimmy Choux, Zoustar, Makybe Diva and recent Hong Kong Classic Mile victor Able Friend.
“Australian breeders took advantage of the former strength of the Aussie dollar to boost their genetic pool with quality overseas stock as evidenced in the depth of the Easter catalogue. Thanks a dollar now on the slide Australian sales certainly look the best value in the region,” points out Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster.
Australian Group 1 winners purchased for A$300,000 or less from Easter in recent years include Shamus Award, Headway, Irish Lights, Response, Dariana, Rock Classic, Absolutely, Anacheeva, Mosheen, Zabeelionaire, Fat Al and Samaready.
This season’s $250,000 RL Inglis Nursery winner Mossfun is yet another example of the great running types available in Session Two of Easter. The exciting daughter of Mossman was snapped up by Emirates Park for just $85,000 last year.
“The whole team and I at Inglis look forward to welcoming everyone to Sydney for the 98th Easter Yearling Sale in April, then sharing in the excitement of seeing this Easter crop going on to big success on and off the track in years to come,” Webster adds.
