Tivaci joins Group 1 club

Like his father Bart always used to, Anthony Cummings still gets a thrill when a Princes Farm graduate wins a Group 1 – even if he’s not the winning trainer.

That was the case today when Tivaci saluted in the All Aged Stakes at Randwick and the winning trainer’s trophy was handed to Mike Moroney.

Princes Farm, which has been operating as a breeding, pre-training and spelling facility for the Cummings family for over 20 years, has been the starting ground for many of their Group 1 winners including Saintly, Fiveandahalfstar, Hotel Grand and Casino Prince.

And today it was Tivaci for Moroney which proved the latest star graduate, scoring his first Group 1 and fourth Stakes victory in the All Aged.

“It’s a proud day for the family, Princes Farm has long been a big part of what we do and it still remains that today,’’ Anthony Cummings said.

“Mike has done a great job with Tivaci and I wish he and the connections all the very best.’’

Moroney said post-race Tivaci would be retired to stand at Waikato Stud, possibly immediately.

“He’s the fastest son of High Chaparral probably in the world I would think. He’s by a great sire and proving to be a sire of sires too so he’s going to a great home,’’ Moroney said.

“He’s been placed in a lot of Group 1s so deserved to get one here today and it’s very timely as he’s going to stud. We’ll have a meeting now as to whether we race on.’’

Tivaci (High Chaparral x Breccia) was offered by Princes Farm at the 2014 Australian Easter Yearling Sale, where Paul Moroney Bloodstock paid $250,000 for him.

Inglis’ next sale is the Vobis Gold Sale at Oaklands in Melbourne on Sunday week, April 23, and Lot 58 is the sole progeny of High Chaparral on offer, a colt which is sure to be popular.

Meanwhile Redzel and Mongolian Wolf both enjoyed Stakes success earlier today at Randwick.

Redzel (Snitzel x Millrich), in the Triple Crown Syndications silks, kept his consistent record going, scoring a decisive victory in the Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes.

The 4YO, a $45,000 buy from Marquee Stud at the 2013 Australian Weanling & Bloodstock Stock Sale, has now finished in the placings at nine of his past 11 starts for Peter and Paul Snowden.

And Mongolian Wolf (Pluck x Oomaroo) seems to be enjoying life back in Australia, winning his first start here in today’s Group 3 Frank Packer Plate.

Mongolian Wolf had done all his prior racing in New Zealand, before ending up in Darren Weir’s stables through Australian Bloodstock.

He is a graduate of the 2015 Inglis Classic Sale – where he was offered by Supreme Thoroughbreds – and has now won four of nine career starts.
