Trans-Tasman Juvenile Stakes Double

Two outstanding youngsters flew the flag for Inglis-sold two-year-olds across two countries today, taking out both juvenile stakes races in Australia and New Zealand.

Inglis Classic graduate Jackson (Not A Single Doubt x Elegant Angela) finished strongly to win the Listed MRC Santa’s Magical Kingdom Stakes over 1000m on debut at Sandown under the guidance of Kerrin McEvoy.

After settling to the rear of the field for the majority of the race, Jackson launched at the 100m and lengthened to a powerful victory for trainer Tony McEvoy, who is aiming the gelding towards greater riches next month.

“I’ll take him to Sydney to the $500,000 Inglis Nursery on the 12th of December,” said McEvoy.

McEvoy also noted a likeness of Jackson to his other spring two-year-old winner and fellow Inglis Classic graduate Concealer, which won the first race on Melbourne Cup Day on debut at Flemington.

"I saw some similarities to Concealer today, the way he just lengthened," McEvoy said.

"He's got a lot of scope and he had a tremendous big stride, and Sandown helped him," added McEvoy.

Bred by Fred Moses, the promising gelding was a $76,000 purchase for his trainer from the Ambergate Farm draft at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale earlier this year, and now races for a syndicate of owners Pipeliner Bloodstock Pty Ltd, Mr J R Ferrett, Mr R Mullarney, Mr M Ranger, Mr P J Marron, Mr S D Saunders, Mr J S Wishart, Mr P R Glover and Mr S M George.

The $500,000 RL Inglis Nursery at Royal Randwick on 12 December is open to all two-year-olds nominated to the Inglis Race Series. For more information visit inglis.com.au/2015-race-series

Across the Tasman Arrowfield Stud bred and sold two-year-old Sassy 'N' Smart (Smart Missile x Panorama Ridge) remained unbeaten, dominating the field to win the Listed CJC Welcome Stakes over 1000m at Riccarton, becoming the first black-type winner for her first season sire.

Despite some reluctance to settle in the barriers, the filly took guidance from jockey Matt Cameron who steered her around the field to take the lead by the straight to win with ease for co-trainers Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards of Te Akau Racing.

"She’s all class and she’s only going to get better as a three-year-old after these two runs, she’s definitely got the goods,” Cameron said.

Selected by David Ellis from the Arrowfield draft at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale earlier this year, Sassy ‘N’ Smart was knocked down to her trainers for $150,000, and now races for Te Akau Sassy 'N' Smart Syndicate.

Sassy ‘N’ Smart’s yearling half-brother by Redoute’s Choice will be offered from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2016 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale to be held on 28, 29 February and 1, 2 March at Inglis Oaklands Complex in Melbourne.
