Tricia'o tops another successful Inglis Digital Sale

Proven producer Tricia’o tonight topped the Inglis Digital May (Early) Online Sale, selling for $200,000.

Offered in foal to Street Boss by Bhima Thoroughbreds as agent for The Estate of the late Sir Patrick Hogan, Tricia’o was party to a fierce bidding duel between several industry heavyweights before eventually selling to Yulong.

It was the proven track record of Tricia’o – most recently at last week’s Australian Weanling Sale where her Savabeel filly sold to Gary Harding for $280,000 – that swayed Yulong to add her to their ever-growing broodmare band.

“We know she leaves a nice type, her progeny have sold up to $700,000 and she’s already produced a Stakes horse so we’re delighted to have her,’’ Yulong’s Sam Fairgray said.

“We’ll foal down her Street Boss foal and then she’ll visit Alabama Express, who we believe she is the perfect match for both on type and pedigree.

“Mr Zhang wants quality mares in the broodmare band to support our stallions and Tricia’o certainly fits the bill.’’

The result was a great one for Bhima, who also offered Tricia’o’s Savabeel filly at Riverside last week on behalf of Sir Patrick Hogan.

“She’s a 12YO mare, she’s left a Stakes horse already, she’s in foal to a really good sire and her weanling obviously made good money at Inglis last week and that was the whole reason we didn’t sell the mare until this Digital sale because we had full faith that the weanling would sell well,’’ Bhima’s Mike Fleming said.

“[My wife] Kate and I spoke this morning and thought she’d make every bit of $150,000 because it’s not every day you get the chance to buy into those late Sir Patrick Hogan families and she’s the last of them that will be sold by him.

“It was great to see some very drawn out and spirited bidding for her to land where she did, we’re delighted with the price and delighted with the whole process with Inglis Digital.’’

The second-top lot was WA mare Sniparoochy, already a winner of eight of her 20 starts including at Stakes level.

Offered by Scenic Lodge, Sniparoochy was purchased by Damon Gabbedy’s Belmont Bloodstock on behalf of Burnewang North for $155,000.

“She’s a speedy mare who’s a winner at two, three and four and those speedy winning mares are hard to buy,’’ Gabbedy said.

“She’s got great form in Western Australia and Cathy [Haines] and the Burnewang team will have plenty of fun with her in years to come on and off the racetrack.’’

Scenic Lodge’s Jeremy Smith added: “It’s a great result. We’re really happy with how the sale went, she’s a lovely mare, a fantastic fast speedy Stakes winner and we’re truly delighted with how well she went online with Inglis Digital.

“We’ve had really good results through Inglis Digital, we’ve sold a lot of yearlings, weanlings and now mares over the time. We’ve used the platform quite a bit and we’ve been absolutely rapt with the results we’ve achieved.’’

The May (Early) Online Sale grossed $2,712,000.

Entries are now open for the May (Late) Sale, and will remain so until midnight next Wednesday, May 17.
