Triple Treat Delivered By Peggy Jean In $250,000 Inglis Classic

$46,000 Summer Book purchase Peggy Jean made it a triple treat at Randwick on Saturday when the filly finished hard to take out the Restricted Listed $250,000 Inglis Classic race for two-year-olds.

Peggy’s win was the third victory in the valuable Inglis Classic race for syndication company Triple Crown Thoroughbreds following the wins of Cavalry Rose and Miss Independent in 2012 and 2008.

“Classic is a great sale for us and the race has been every kind to us with three wins in seven years. We do target this race as soon as we buy them,” said Michael Ward of Triple Crown Syndications.

“Last year we bought four lots. Two of them were in the race today, one is in Melbourne and the other is an out and out stayer. We are thrilled with today’s result,” Ward added.

Peggy Jean (Myboycharlie x Lady Of Love) settled behind the hot speed set by Group 3 winning favourite Boomwaa (by Mutawaajid), which stuck on well for second place ahead of debutant Unequivocal (by Not A Single Doubt).

“I was bit worried about the 1200m today because she’s a filly that is really going to get better when she gets out to a mile or further. We took Cavalry Rose to Group success and then into the Golden Slipper after this race, but this filly would be suited more to the Fernhill or Champagne later in the Autumn,” said trainer Gerald Ryan.

Peggy Jean, which earned her connections $150,000 prizemoney today, was a $46,000 purchase by Triple Crown Syndications from the draft of Torryburn Stud at the 2013 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale Summer Book.

480 lots have been catalogued for this year’s Classic Summer Book, including a half-sister to placegetter Unequivocal to be offered as Lot 87. The sale starts at 10am tomorrow, Sunday 19 January.

The Classic Summer Book is available on both the market leading Inglis Sales iPad App and online at www.inglis.com.au

The sale will be broadcast on Inglis Sale Day live, with Online Bidding and Make-An-Offer available for those buyers unable to attend the Newmarket complex during the two day sale.

Regular updates direct from the sale ring will also be posted via @Inglis_Sales on Twitter and photos of today’s race and both days of the sale will be made available on Inglis’ Facebook page InglisBloodstock

The next race in the $5 million Inglis Race Series is for three-year-olds on Saturday 25 January 2014, at Royal Randwick. Over 1600M, the 3YO BM75 Handicap carries a $100,000 bonus if the winning horse is nominated and eligible for the Inglis Race Series
