The 2014 edition of Melbourne Premier will be held over four days from Sunday, 2 to Wednesday, 5 March.

775 lots have been selected for the truly unmissable sale.

“Almost 2,000 entries were received this year enabling our bloodstock team to be very selective on type and conformation, which is so important to buyers today,” said Peter Heagney, Inglis Melbourne Director.

“It is certainly encouraging that year after year the quality keeps improving, but what is additionally pleasing is seeing horses sold at the sale match the sale ring results,” Heagney adds.

Over a ten year period the stakes winners to lots sold ratio from Melbourne Premier has risen 44%.

“We are now offering twice as many yearlings, but the sale is producing nearly three times are many stakes winners,” Heagney points out.

The ‘Blue Riband’ Session aimed at unearthing quality middle-distance racehorses and stayers will again be conducted as part of next year’s Melbourne Premier Sale. 52 lots by sires such as High Chaparral, Galileo, New Approach, Street Cry and Zabeel have been specifically selected to feature in the Session on Monday, 3 March.

High class juvenile graduates of the sale Reward For Effort and Starspangledbanner are amongst the quality young speed sires represented in the 2014 catalogue.
