Twilight Royale ready for spring

WHILE a multi-million dollar bonus dangles tantalisingly on the horizon, Bjorn Baker has more immediate goals for Twilight Royale, who’ll open her three-year-old account in Saturday’s Silver Shadow Stakes at Warwick Farm.

Baker is pleased with how Twilight Royale has come up after a three month spell following her success in the VRC Sires Produce Stakes at Flemington in March.

Twilight Royale has had the benefit of two trials heading into Saturday’s Group 2 race. She won a trial at Rosehill then had an easy time in a trial at Warwick Farm last Friday.

“She’s going well. She’s not overly big, there’s not a lot to her. That’s the way she is, she’s light on her feet and she’s athletic,” Baker said.

Baker noted that he would run this daughter of Testa Rossa through the Princess Series – Furious Stakes, Tea Rose and Flight Stakes.

“If she was to come up and go well then she does go well the Melbourne way so we would consider theThousand Guineas,” Baker said.

“Obviously, once the New Year comes around everything is set for the Scone race,”

Twilight Royale, a winner of the Inglis Nursery and VRC Sires Stakes, is eligible for a $2.4 million bonus is she can capture the $400,000 Inglis Guineas at Scone next May.

Baker said stablemate Killcareless, a last start winner at Warwick Farm, would also run in the Silver Shadow while Fuerza would contest the Up & Coming Stakes.
