Australian bred horses won five races at Sha Tin on Sunday with success for senior citizens Speed of Light (8g Thunder Gulch (USA), Sambuoyant (7g Flying Spur), Super (8g Danzero), plus Dream Team (4g Red Ransom (USA) and the highly promising four year-old Happy Zero, the most expensive yearling sired by Danzero in 2006.
One of the more impressive winners at Sha Tin on Sunday was Happy Zero (pictured as a yearling) , a $425,000 purchase for John Moore from the Widden Stud draft at the 2006 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
An eye-catching debut winner at Sha Tin on December 20, the John Moore trained Happy Zero looked equally impressive this time in skipping away to win the 1200 metre Class Three event by a length and three-quarters.
Given a trail behind the leader in third place, Happy Zero accelerated impressively for leading rider Weichong Marwing at the finish to record a dominant win.
A full brother to another smart Hong Kong galloper in Triumphant Unicorn, Happy Zero was bred by Mr Leung of Lucky Owners fame and is from the stakes-placed Canny Lad mare Have Love.
Have Love has an unraced three year-old filly by Lucky Owners called Beloved One and produced a filly by the same sire in late October.
Arrowfield Stud’s Danzero enjoyed a good weekend with New Zealand based three year-old filly Shanzero stamping herself as a rising star with a powerhouse win in the Group Three Wellington Stakes.
