Upbeat 3YOs Make Plenty Of Noise

Upbeat three-year-olds Not Listenin’tome and Jazz Song created plenty of noise over the weekend with strong victories at Group 3 level moving into the Autumn Carnival.

Not Listenin’tome (Dylan Thomas x Flame Of Sydney) was a dominant four length winner of the Gr.3 MRC Zeditave Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield on Saturday. The ease of the win impressed both jockey and trainer immensely.

“He’s one out of the box, that was awesome. He's just so laid back, he doesn't even get on the bridle for a sprinter,” said jockey James McDonald.

“He just ambled up on the corner and everything fell into place. It was an exhibition gallop but it will only get harder from here,” pointed out co-trainer Wayne Hawkes.

Trained by John, Wayne and Michael Hawkes, Not Listenin’tome is owned by champion Hong Kong trainer John Moore, who purchased the exciting galloper for $270,000 from Arrowfield Stud at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

"If this horse had been by Fastnet Rock he'd have probably topped the [Easter] sale, that's how good a sort he is,” Wayne Hawkes added on Saturday.

The entire Hawkes and Moore teams have been very patient with Not Listenin’tome, which has had just the five career starts to date for three wins and two placings.

Not Listenin’tome was second in the Gr.1 VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes in the spring to Zoustar. The pair is likely to clash again in the coming months.

A nomination to the $2.5 million Gr.1 ATC TJ Smith Stakes is one of the multiple entries that Not Listenin’tome holds for the feature races during The Championships in Sydney. Another includes the $3 million Group 1 ATC Doncaster Mile, a race won by past Zeditave Stakes winner Haradasun.

On Friday night blueblood filly Jazz Song (Fastnet Rock x Absolut Glam) took a giant leap forward scoring a valuable Group 3 win in the 1200m MVRC Typhoon Tracy Stakes at Moonee Valley.

By a champion sire from a Group 1 winner, Jazz Song (pictured left as a yearling at Willow Park Stud) is blessed with an outstanding pedigree, stunning looks and plenty of ability going on her strong victory under jockey Craig Newitt.

“She just travelled so sweet during the run. I was a bit off them at the turn, but when I went for her she went whoosh and it was a big win,” said Newitt.

Jazz Song settled beautifully for Newitt in a midfield position, made ground under a tight hold from the 800m mark before unleashing with a strong finish over the top of runner-up Miss Promiscuity down the centre of the track.

The future looks bright for the lightly raced filly which was a $625,000 purchase by James Bester Bloodstock / Demi O’Byrne from the draft of Willow Park Stud at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Raced by Coolmore (Mgr: Mrs S Magnier), Go Bloodstock (Mgr: R J Hackett) & Mr Teo Ah Khing, Jazz Song has won two of her three starts.

Jazz Song’s breeder SF Bloodstock will offer her three-quarter-sister as Lot 296 through Newgate Farm’s draft at this year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. The yearling filly Redoute’s Choice is the third foal of Gr.1 Qld Tatt’s RC Winter Stakes winner Absolut Glam.

A number of other yearlings catalogued for upcoming Inglis Select Yearling Sales received significant pedigree updates over the weekend.

A sister to Gr.1 MRC Futurity Stakes winner Moment Of Change will be offered by Cornerstone Stud as Lot 197 at the 2014 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
