Reigning’s win at Rosehill on Saturday recalls his stakes-winning half-sister Averau who was one of the first pin hooks sold by fledgling farm Burnewang North in 2010.
This week they look forward to presenting the second-largest draft of weanlings (23) at the Melbourne Great Southern Sale commencing Sunday 21 June.
Cathy Hains said "We are taking a bit of a leap of faith by selling over half of our 2014 foals. Good weanlings are in demand and we intend to concentrate on a manageable number of yearlings for the 2016 sales.
"Thus we are selling an outstanding group which represent great opportunities for both pinhookers and end-users alike. All are VOBIS eligible and many of them are BOBS as well. They include two of the only three Snitzels in the sale, others by leading sires Commands, Not A Single Doubt, Hinchinbrook as well as So You Think, All Too Hard and Americain.
"The majority of our draft are of select sale standard, so if sales earlier in the year are a guide, we are looking forward to plenty of interest.”
Burnewang North’s consignment at the Great Southern Sale also includes 15 broodmares and there are updates aplenty:
Fashion Black, the dam of Lot 14 (pictured) a colt by Snitzel is a half-sister by Pentire to Xtravagant, for whom big things are predicted in New Zealand this Spring after a 8 length win in his only 2yo start. The 2000 Guineas in the Spring has been suggested – a pedigree update indeed if he takes that next step.
Miracletto has a very promising two-year old in Sydney named Over The Air and is related to Craftiness, the mare (Lot 447) and her Nicconi filly (Lot 293) are offered for sale.
Hi Spun, who won on Sunday, is out of blue blood mare Top of Collins (Lot 549) who is entered for sale with her weanling filly by Wanted (Lot 331).
Egatrice’s (Lot 358) son Niccatrice won first-up on Friday.
Baffled’s (Lot 581) half-sister produced Saturday’s Flemington winner Clairvaux.
Avalanches, the half-brother to the dam of our Testa Rossa filly (Lot 307), won again in Brisbane on Saturday.
The Nicconi-Paymistress (Lot 304) is a half-brother to recent two-year-old winner Rumunerator and is related to the promising Napayshini.
Valentine Rose (Lot 555) has a promising 2yo in Muccino and his half brother a colt by Denman colt (Lot 179) is on offer.
Also sure to be popular is Lot 41, a colt by Champion First Season Sire elect Hinchinbrook from the stakes-winner Huiskes, who comes from the family of Australian Horse of the Year Scenic Blast.
Of the broodmares for sale, two are in foal to Helmet about whose rising two-year-olds there are good reports, and others in foal to Shamus Award, Americain, Stryker & Kaphero.
Burnewang North’s draft is available for inspection at Barn B now.
