Chris Waller left it until late in the day but Sikka did the job to stretch the trainer's remarkable run of winners at his home track to 21 consecutive Rosehill Saturday meetings.
Jockey Glyn Schofield was almost as pleased as Waller, giving a victory salute as he went past the post after holding off Fitness Fanatic by a half-length in the Myer Handicap (1300m).
"It was the last roll of the dice for Chris," Schofield said.
"This horse has shown potential but has had a couple of unlucky starts but today he made amends.
"I'm sure for Chris, even though he likes to play down these things, it is a big thing.
"It is hard to do in anyone's language so to keep the ball rolling is pretty special."
Waller had been preparing for the streak to end.
"I'm delighted," he said.
"I had my defeat speech worked out.
"I try not to put any pressure on but it is something to be proud of.
"It's a talking point and I've even had owners ring me and tell me to run their horses if I want to but we are not going to just make up the numbers.
"This horse is a very good horse but he has had a few issues.
"I think we have learned the thing is to keep him fresh."
The winning run began with Danleigh in last April's Group One George Ryder Stakes.
