Watsons Bay Tops May Thoroughbred Sale

With the bulk of quality mares sold recently at the William Inglis & Son Easter Broodmare Sale, today’s May Thoroughbred Sale shifted focus to racehorses, where quality racing stock realised pleasing results, with a clearance rate of 88.3%.

Top price of $66,000 was paid for Lot 107, the dual provincial winning 3YO Royal Academy (USA) gelding Watsons Bay, purchased by Belmont Bloodstock W.A.

For those buyers who were unsuccessful bidders today, the next opportunity to purchase quality bloodstock will be this Thursday May 17 at the 2007 Scone Thoroughbred Sale, White Park. Commencing at 11am a main catalogue of 149 will be coupled with a supplementary offering of 22 that online later today.

Friday at the Scone Race Club will see the running of the $160,000 Scone Inglis Challenge (including a $20,000 BOBS bonus), open to yearling graduates of the 2006 HTBA Scone Yearling, Scone Thoroughbred and Winter Thoroughbred Sale. Another highlight of the race day will see the staging of the Inglis/HTBA Dark Jewel Classic, a Listed event for fillies and mares run over 1400m, as well as the running of the Listed Scone Cup over a mile.

An outstanding line up of 200 yearlings will form part of HTBA Scone Yearling Sale that will also take part at White Park, this time on SundayMay 21 at 10:30am. With 91% of those catalogued being by BOBS nominated stallions, the incentive to buy offers further rewards.
