Whobegotyou kicked off an Inglis Group 1 double at Caulfield when he proved too good in today's Yalumba Stakes, assuring himself of favouritism for this month's Cox Plate.
WHOBEGOTYOU ($19,500 2007 Classic, 4g Street Cry-Temple Of Peace) joins elite company with the victory, becoming just the second horse since Lonhro to complete the Caulfield Guineas-Yalumba Stakes double in the last 60 years.
He has been a wonderful money spinner for owner Laurence Eales, who purchased him out of the Widden Stud draft at the 2007 Classic Sale, with his earnings now topping the $2million mark.
Trainer Mark Kavanagh is in an enviable position heading to the famous Moonee Valley weight-for-age event, with last year's winner Maldivian ($195,000 2004 Easter) also on target to defend his crown.
Inglis graduates later completed a Group 1 double when STARSPANGLEDBANNER ($120,000 2008 Premier, 3c Choisir-Gold Anthem) took out the Caulfield Guineas.
Earlier, LUCKY SECRET ($220,000 2005 Easter, 6g Rubiton-Won’t Tell) landed his 13th career win when setting a new track record in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes.
Prepared for sale by Attunga Stud, he is now the winner of nearly $900,000 in earnings.
One horse that may well soon join the list of Inglis stakes winners is the impressive KING PULSE ($55,000 2008 Classic, 3g Canny Lad-Pleasure Ground), who made it two wins from as many starts when winning the Harrolds Fashion Plate (1200m).
A Lomar Park graduate, King Pulse looks like being another bargain buy for Paul Moroney Bloodstock.
