William Inglis & Son Ltd October Racehorse Sale

Spirited bidding duels were the order of the day as the inaugural October Racehorse Sale wound up at Oaklands Junction this afternoon. A first for William Inglis & Son, the racehorse only sale saw over 100 quality lots of both raced and unraced horses go under the hammer.

A strong representation of buyers from throughout most states of Australia as well as the Philippines helped to aid an excellent clearance rate of 89%.

On paper, Listed AJC Breeders Plate winner Super Savings appeared to be one of the standout lots and the Secret Savings gelding did not leave connections disappointed when the hammer fell to the final bid of Victorian owner, Mr Fred Damico for $72,500.

The top priced racemare went the way of lightly raced Deputy Governor (USA) mare, Demazali (NZ) a half sister to Listed winner Wyndam Special, whose first foal went through the 2006 Easter Yearling sale for $425,000, was purchased by astute bloodstock agent Mark Pilkington for $30,000.

We have no doubt we can build on this sale to make it even more popular. With an 89% clearance both vendor and buyers were very satisfied with the results”

Thursday 26th of this month will see the staging of the 2006 2 & 3YO Breeze Up sessions to be conducted on the newly built track at the Oaklands Junction complex. The following Sunday, the day after Australasia’s greatest weight-for-age championship the W. S. Cox Plate, will see the sale take place with over a 140 quality 2 & 3YO’s of offer.
