A slick win by highly regarded Starcraft two year-old Secret Hills at Bendigo on Thursday added to the run of success enjoyed this season by two year-olds consigned by progressive Victorian nursery Three Bridges Thoroughbreds.
"We have had four individual two year old winners this season, plus three other stakes performers, so already seven decent runners from not that many sold, which is a good effort given none were really stand out two year olds, so they all should benefit with time and racing,” said Toby Liston of Three Bridges.
Leading the way for Three Bridges have been Raffles Pegasus (pictured as a yearling) , winner of the Listed VRC Anzac Day Stakes and brilliant filly Hallowell Belle, arguably the best maiden in the country after chasing Sepoy home for second in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes.
Both horses came out of the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, Raffles Pegasus purchased for $100,000 and Hallowell Belle for $170,000.
Other winners are Gonna Be a Rockstar and Dinky, while Instinction and Eclair Desire finished just behind the place-getters in the Blue Diamond Preludes giving the impression they will have much to offer in the spring.
The Liston family will begin a new chapter this spring with the arrival of young Fastnet Rock stallion Stryker, who will stand his first season at Three Bridges at a fee of $11,000.
"We believe he is a super chance to make it as a sire, given the really good support he will be receiving and the knowledge his offspring will be raised well and given every opportunity in the sale ring down the track, so they can find their way into the best stables,” Liston added.
