Winter Concludes The 2014 Inglis Select Yearling Sales Series

Today’s Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale Winter Book marked the conclusion of Inglis’ Select Yearling Sales Series for 2014.

“On behalf of Inglis I’d like to thank all the vendors and buyers that supported this year’s Inglis Select Yearling Sales Series where we have sold 1,900 yearlings at an overall clearance rate of 83 per cent, almost 4 per cent better than any rival,” said Inglis’ Managing Director Mark Webster.

“Yearlings sold through Inglis in 2014 have averaged A$79,030, which is 34 per cent more than any other Australian auction house. The bulging trophy cabinets of the Inglis buying bench clearly show Inglis graduates exceed their rivals on the racetrack as well,” points out Webster.

102 yearlings were sold at the Classic Winter Book today for $936,050.

“This end of the market is more susceptible to the nation’s overall consumer confidence, which took a big dive after last month’s Federal Budget. Although I would have liked a much stronger clearance rate today in line with our season average, at least the Winter Book clearance has exceeded any other yearling sale held this month,” added Webster.

The top priced yearling today was recorded for Rheinwood Pastoral’s filly by Exceed And Excel from Longueville Lass. After passing-in through the ring the filly was sold this evening to Scott Asprey for $50,000.

Canberra trainer Matt Dale snapped up the highest priced yearling colt today when going to $47,500 to purchase Willow Park Stud’s colt by Not A Single Doubt from Diamond de Triano.

Sydney trainer Pat Webster added Nunski Park’s colt by Sebring from Hairy to his stable when his client J Sebbag signed for the colt for $45,000 today.

Sam Kavanagh and Gerald Ryan snapped up the next two highest priced yearlings. Kavanagh went to $37,500 to buy Toolooganvale’s filly by Sebring from Pearl Ardane for $37,500, while Ryan bid $34,000 to purchase Carramar Park’s filly by Rothesay from Eugenie Gold.
