Winter Weanling, Yearling & Thoroughbred Sale

This Friday, July 13 sees the 2007 Winter Weanling, Yearling & Thoroughbred Sale to be held at Newmarket, Sydney commencing at 10:30am.

A main catalogue of 188 lots will be coupled with a supplementary catalogue of 48 that will be available on sale day.

Current Global Sprint Champion and five times Group One winner Takeover Target was purchased from this very sale in 2003, indicating quality is available at a price achievable by every member of the market.

In excess of 50 broodmares are in the main catalogue, many of whom are in foal to leading commercial stallions such as Magic Albert, Mossman, Beautiful Crown (USA), Not A Single Doubt and Snippetson. Numerous stakes performed mares will be offered such as Lot 24, the dual stakes placed William Inglis Classic winner Cutabove in foal to leading 2YO sire Choisir and Lot 50, the multiple city winner Another Misty, who is in foal to exciting first season Danehill (USA) sire Foreplay as well as Lot 53, the three time winner Keltic Verse, offered by Yarraman Park in foal to another son of Danehill (USA) in Kempinsky.

An extensive line up of yearlings by Group winning sires Tale Of The Cat (USA), Bianconi (USA), Bel Esprit, Arena and Exceed And Excel are all eligible for the 2008 $100,000 Scone Inglis Challenge race. In fact, this year’s Scone Inglis Challenge second placegetter, Mr Wadam was purchased from this very sale last year.

Segenhoe Stud will offer Lots 107 and 108, a pair of Exceed And Excel yearlings that are sure to command plenty of attention. A half-brother to American stakes winner Rodeo Springs, Lot 107 comes from the family of proven stallions Genuine (Jpn), Ishiguru (USA) and Van Nistelrooy (USA). Lot 108, a half-sister to dual Listed winner Russian Caravan, also sees the Group Three winning Pure Joy in the first dam, while Group One winning sprinter Snowland also appears in the family.

Over 50 entries in the racehorse section of the main catalogue comprises many metropolitan performers on offer including Bit of Knowledge (Lot 170), Eastwest Dancer (Lot 175), Misty D’ Cat (Lot 146) and Throne Inn (Lot 150), the 2006 Scone Inglis Challenge winner.
