DIAMOND EARTH will look to continue her dominance of Inglis Race Series events and follow in the tradition of Chance Bye and Pane In The Glass in the Inglis Classic at Rosehill on Saturday.
The speedy daughter of Choisir has won bonus races at Moonee Valley and Warwick Farm over 1000 metres and trainer Anthony Cummings is confident 1200 metres will not prove a problem. ''Before Saturday, she was the top-earning two-year-old in the country,'' Cummings said. ''She has done very well in these Inglis races.
''After the win at Moonee Valley in the spring I was confident that she would run a strong 1200 metres and I haven't changed my mind about that. We rode her to use her speed at Warwick Farm and I don't think we will be doing that on Saturday. We [will] ride her with a sit like we did in Melbourne.''
Peter Robl retains the ride after he jumped Diamond Earth straight to the front and led all the way in last month's Inglis Nursery.
The signs are good for Diamond Earth as Chance Bye and Pane In The Glass completed the Nursery/Classic double.
Cummings said the $250,000 feature, which is restricted to Inglis Classic Sale graduates, was the next logical step for Diamond Earth.
''It is a great series for these sort of horses and when you have a good one you need to take advantage of it,'' he said. ''She is precocious and a perfect horse for this series.''
Gai Waterhouse will attempt to follow up on her Magic Millions quinella and continue one of her best two-year-old seasons to date in the Inglis Classic with the unraced Snippetsboy.
''He is a Snippetson that trialled well about 10 days ago and we think he could measure up,'' she said.
