Written By shows off Diamond credentials

Owned by Neville Begg and partners, the Written Tycoon colt showed his ability in winning the colts and geldings version of Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield today, holding off a strong finishing Plague Stone on the line.

Offered at the 2017 Melbourne Premier Yearling sale by Basinghall Farm, Written By (pictured) won on debut at Sandown in December and today proved that was no fluke.

Trainer Grahame Begg is happy with the horse he has in his care.

“I think he’s a pretty serious horse,” Begg said.

“He’s got great determination the horse. Gallop, trial, whatever he just wants to hit the line. He’s a real racehorse.”

When asked if he’ll be in the Blue Diamond in two weeks time, Begg was keen to get him there.

“We’ll see how he pulls up, in all likelihood, he’ll be there,” Begg said.

Grahame’s father, Hall of Fame trainer Neville, bred Written By. While he’s looked after plenty of good horses in his time, he’s excited to be a part of this colt.

“We’re delighted,” Neville Begg said.

“I’ll leave the diamond plans to Grahame, he’s got automatic entry into the race now, and I imagine he’ll go there.”

Written By joins fellow Inglis graduate Kinky Boom near the top of the market for the race.
