Group 2 winning stallion Written Tycoon will return to Eliza Park this breeding season after being knocked down for $625,000 at today's third session of the Melbourne Great Southern Sale.
Being sold to dissolve a partnership, the son of Iglesia was knocked down to David O'Callaghan, who purchased him on behalf of Eliza Park and a number of other existing clients.
There was competition from both overseas and from Queensland for the six-year-old.
Winner of the G2 Todman Slipper Trial, Written Tycoon has covered books of 118 and 87 mares in his two seasons at stud to date and Eliza Park will now happily welcome him back for a third term.
His sale highlighted the opening day of the Bloodstock session, where $1.682million was traded on 172 horses.
Today's clearance rate was 82%, with good competition across the board.
Group 2 South Australian Oaks winner Dream The Dream (Encosta De Lago), carrying a positive test to exciting young stallion God's Own, was knocked down to Bell View Park Stud for $100,000, to be the highest priced mare sold today.
Group 3 winner Raja Lane, carrying a foal by Keep The Faith, fetched $60,000 to the bid of Hancock Quality Bloodstock.
The Great Southern Sale will come to a conclusion with tomorrow's final session, which will again be broadcast on Inglis Sale Day Live.
Horses passed in during today's session and from Monday and Tuesday's weanlings sessions, can still be purchased via the Make an Offer service.
