Yearlings Arrive at Newmarket Ahead Of Sunday’s Classic Sale Opener

Horses are arriving at Newmarket in readiness for the 2009 Sydney Classic Yearling Sale, which begins this Sunday, February 8 and runs over three days.

The catalogue is made up of 607 lots, with selling to begin at 1pm on Sunday and then 11am Monday and Tuesday.

A total of 114 individual sires are represented, with the majority being BOBS eligible.

Inspections have begun at the Inglis complex and most of the horses will be on the grounds by Wednesday afternoon.

Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy said this year’s catalogue is as good as any previous Classic Sale and the performances of graduates underlines the opportunities buyers have at next week’s sale.

“Classic graduates continue to excel on the track and this sale is outperforming most sales in Australia for value for money,” he said.

“Buyers will be suitably impressed with both the diversity and quality of the stock we have on offer at this year’s sale.”

Classic graduates have already won 20 stakes races this season, with the 11 individual winners snapped up for prices between $14,000 and $70,000, highlighted by Group 1 winners Whobegotyou, Triple Honour, Tell A Tale and dual winner Typhoon Zed, who added another G1 placing to his record in last Saturday’s Lightning Stakes.

The Classic Sale features all of the new Inglis innovations, including Online Bidding and the Make an Offer service.

Sirecam videos of each yearling in the sale can also be found on the Inglis website.
