Yosei Notches Third Group 1

Fairytale filly Yosei ended the season on a high for Inglis graduates when upsetting odds-on favourite Beaded in the Group 1 Tatt’s Tiara at Eagle Farm today.

The filly is now a triple Group 1 winner, having won last year’s AJC Sires Produce Stakes and this season’s Thousand Guineas.

Offered for sale by Woodlawn Park, YOSEI (P$14,500 2008 Great Southern Weanling, 3f Invincible Spirit-Fuji Fairy) has proven to be the one that got away from buyers as she has now amassed earnings of $890,000 under the guidance of trainer Stuart Webb.

“She is a good horse, it was a terrific ride, everything went to plan; it is just unbelievable and I am just so lucky that she walked through my door,” Webb said.

“Shehas taken a little while to come back this time, she put on a heap of weight and I thought there was plenty of merit in both her runs leading in.

“She is just a great horse and does it all herself, I am wrapt for Michelle (Payne), myself, the owners and my family; it's just terrific.”

Payne has built a terrific affinity with Yosei, having now won four races in 11 rides – including all three Group 1 wins.

“She is an amazing little horse, she just comes back each prep and she just gets better and better and I am so lucky to be a part of her,” she said.
