A share in reigning Champion Stallion Zoustar has topped the Inglis Digital April (Late) Online Sale, selling today for $850,000.
The share was offered as part of the first Inglis Digital online sale to close out across multiple days.
Today’s Australian Broodmare Sale Session produced some impressive results, with strong competition across the most appealing lots.
The Zoustar share – offered by Qatar Bloodstock – sold to Richard Pegum’s Red And Green Bloodstock.
Pegum purchased Group performed mare Dancing Alone at last year’s Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $875,000 and bought the Zoustar share to gain access to the stallion for last year’s acquisition.
“Dancing Alone is a half sister to Growing Empire so by putting her to Zoustar, she’ll be carrying a three-quarter to Growing Empire which I think would be pretty handy pregnancy, it makes sense to me,’’ Pegum said.
“I bred Zousain with Zoustar so I have a bit of an affinity with the stallion so it’s nice to have the equity there now too.
“When I saw the share come online I was pretty keen to get it and while it took a bit of toing and froing, it’s good to have it all done now.’’
The Zoustar share comes alongside a breeding right in Anamoe, which sold yesterday to Julia Ritchie’s Bangaloe Stud for $450,000.
Today’s Australian Broodmare Sale Session was topped by Atlantic Emerald – in foal to Shinzo – which sold to Justin Carey for $410,000.
Carey confirmed Atlantic Emerald was purchased for a client of Coolmore.
“We loved the mating with Shinzo and were all excited by that so it’s nice to see the mare staying on the farm,’’ Carey said.
“Shinzo is proving to be hugely popular, to the surprise of nobody, and he should have a great week at the foal sale at Riverside next week.
“At this stage the plan is for Atlantic Emerald to go back to Shinzo once we foal her down in a few months.’’
Today’s second-top lot was the Coolmore-offered Vinicunca – in foal to Switzerland – which sold to Kia Ora in partnership with Encompass International for $170,000.
Kia Ora’s Shane Wright confirmed Vinicunca would visit newly announced stallion Tropicus later this season.
“We’re very happy with the purchase and we think she’ll be a beautiful mare for Tropicus,’’ Wright said.
“She shows what we’re aiming to send to him, nice Group-winning mares with lots of ability and big futures.
“We’ve been using Inglis Digital for years, it’s very efficient, very easy and it really streamlines everything and makes it easy for everyone.’’
In total, there were five mares to realise $100,000 or more through the session, with Snitty Kitty ($160,000 IF to Maurice), Excelsior Island ($130,000 IF to Street Boss) and Sistonic ($105,000 IF to Schwarz), joining Atlantic Emerald and Vinicunca.
In total the April (Late) Sale grossed $5,243,950 with today’s Australian Broodmare Sale Session grossing $2,655,000.
Entries are now open for the Inglis Digital May (Early) Sale, which will feature the second and final Australian Broodmare Sale Session for 2026.
