The Great Southern Weanling Sale took centre stage at Randwick during the recent Sydney Autumn Carnvial when the Stuart Webb trained Yosei staged a tough effort to win the G1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes on Saturday April 10.

YOSEI (P$14,500 2008 Great Southern Weanling, 2f Invincible Spirit-Fuji Fairy) had caught the eye when running on in both the VRC Sires and Reisling Trial at Group 2 level, having won easily on debut at Benalla in February.

Underlining the value to be found at the Great Southern Sale, the filly was able to stave off the late challenge of subsequest G1 AJC Champagne Stakes winner Skilled, in the run to the line.

The 2010 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale will be held in Melbourne on May 17 and 18, featuring over 390 lots by many of Australia's top and progressive sires.
