The Inglis March Thoroughbred Sale recorded an excellent clearance rate of 90% in Melbourne today, which is expected to rise as private sales are processed on passed in lots. 197 lots of racing and breeding stock realised an aggregate of $1,746,450, up from last year’s $1,495,350.
“We are delighted at the results from today’s sale which reinforced the strength of the Victorian auction system with good competition by buyers from all states of Australia and New Zealand,” said Victorian Director Peter Heagney.
“Racehorses were the highlights of the day with both the Darley and Team Williams horses creating particularly good interest,” Heagney said.
Two Lots shared the highest price honours at $50,000, both sold from the Lloyd and Nick Williams reduction selling under the Hudson Conway Banner. Lot 139, the impeccably bred listed winner Wales, by Redoute’s Choice out of a half-sister to the famous Makybe Diva, sold to Inglis as agent for a Queensland client. Lot 140, the stakes-placed gelding Practiced (Encosta de Lago x Liberty Walk) was secured by Shane Morrissey.
Breeding giant Darley sold their complete draft with three-year-old Exceed and Excel gelding Rostock (Lot 110) topping the offering when selling to Brian Markovic for $40,000.
