100% Clearance At Summer Thoroughbred Sale

100% clearance has been recorded for the first broodmare and racehorse sale for 2016, the Inglis Summer Thoroughbred Sale where all 51 lots offered were sold to a variety of buyers.

“We are thrilled to see 100% of horses offered today sold, proving once again that there is no better way to sell a horse than under the hammer at Newmarket,” said Inglis National Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy.

The day’s leading buyer was Queensland trainer Bradley Smith, who secured Authorized gelding San Telmo (Lot 54) and unraced gelding River Runner (Lot 50) to join his boutique stable at Deagon.

“I always enjoy buying at Inglis, the tried horses on offer are head and shoulders above the rest,” said Smith.

“We came here looking for a nice stayer that will do well in Brisbane and I believe these two, San Telmo especially, will fit the bill. They will join Suit, a tried horse I bought from Inglis last year that won his trial on the weekend and is heading into stakes-company this campaign,” Smith added.

Top seller of the day was lightly-raced three-year-old filly Mussenden (Lot 27), a half-sister by Fastnet Rock to Champion Three-Year-Old Whobegotyou, which was secured for $39,000 by Inglis As Agent, while four-year-old city-winner Man Of Distinction (Lot 55) was knocked down for $31,000 to another client of the firm. Three-year-old filly Catwalk Kitty (Lot 25), from the family of I Am Invincible, was secured for $25,000 by Inglis representative Jin Tian for a Chinese client.

“It was also a great pleasure to introduce two new auctioneers to our clients, Harry McAlpine and James Mitchell,” added D’Arcy.
