South Africa’s star sprinting three-year-old filly Alboran Sea netted her third Group 1 success on a busy weekend for Inglis graduates which won nine stakes races.
Inglis graduates took their number of stakes wins in South Africa this season to 15 with three victories at Turffontein on Saturday’s Champions Day, the country’s richest raceday. While on Sunday in Singapore the tenacious Stepitup claimed the second Queen Elizabeth II Cup in three years for Inglis graduates.

Alboran Sea (Rock of Gibraltar x Lady's Light) recorded her third career Group 1 victory when proving too quick for her opposition in the Turffontein Computaform Sprint over the flying 1000m.
Bred by Rosemont Stud, Alboran Sea was purchased by Form Bloodstock for $105,000 from Rosemont’s draft at the 2013 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
The three-year-old filly is trained by Mike de Kock and owned by Michael Javett and Mary Slack. Alboran Sea has won five of her nine career starts including Group 1 wins at Kenilworth, Scottsville and now Turffontein.
Tamaanee (Teofilo x Cangino) notched her first stakes win when running away with the weight-for-age Group 2 Turffontein Gerald Rosenberg Stakes over 2000m. Sold by Yarraman Park Stud for $30,000 to Heritage Bloodstock at the 2013 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Tamaanee is trained by Sean Tarry for Al Adiyaat.
Entisaar (More Than Ready x Purrpurrlena) won the two-year-old fillies event on Champions Day, the Group 2 Turffontein South African Fillies Nursery over 1160m. Sold for $300,000 from the draft of Vinery Stud at the 2014 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, Entisaar was selected by the Shadwell Stud Australasia team of Angus Gold, Jehan Malherbe and Mike de Kock on behalf of owner HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Stepitup (Hussonet x Ain’t Seen Nothin’) took his earnings past S$1,600,000 with victory in the Singapore Group 2 Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 2000m at Kranji. Bred by Arrowfield Pastoral & Planette Thoroughbred, Stepitup was purcahsed for $90,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale for owners Thomas Loke and Suzannah Goh of the Tivic Stable.
The weanling half-sister by Dream Ahead to Group 2 winner Tamaanee is set to be offered by Yarraman Park Stud as Lot 61 at the upcoming Inglis Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale.
