Darby’s Rose Continues To Bloom

Darby Racing’s star youngster Yankee Rose confirmed her position as Australia’s leading two-year-old filly when striding away with the $1 million Group 1 ATC Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes over 1400m at Royal Randwick.

Yankee Rose (All American x Condesaar) provided many fairytales for her connections including maiden Group 1 victories for trainer David Vandyke and syndicators Darby Racing.

Zac Purton held the filly mid-field until the 400m mark, where she needed little encouragement to power to the front of the field, winning by more than two lengths.

Vandyke, whose personal struggles have been well-documented this week, was quick to credit Scott Darby with selecting her from the Widden Stud draft at the 2015 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

“All thanks must go to Scott for choosing the filly, and for his support,” said Vandyke.

“She has such a beautiful nature. She’s so lovely and quiet it’s hard to believe she goes as quick as she does!” Vandyke said.

After a strong runner-up performance in last month’s Group 1 ATC Golden Slipper, syndicator Scott Darby was confident the filly would show similar class and dominate the field in today’s race.

“She was in our top ten at the sale, we could find absolutely nothing wrong with her. After she trialled we knew she had real quality and the X-Factor that you look for in a star,” said Darby.

“She is only 445 kilos, but every bit of that is heart. She has a massive stride and she’s an absolute ripper!”

The daughter of All American has converted an initial investment of $10,000 into $1.4 million over three wins from four starts.

The journey continues in two weeks when the filly contests the Group 1 ATC Champagne Stakes for the large group of owners who travelled from all corners of the country to watch her in action today, Mr Scott G Darby, Mr M J Royal, Mrs S E Weigall, Mr H C Sharpe, Mr P G Davis, Mr J Fowler, Mrs H E Sumner, Mr M A Slack-Smith, Mr A C Beckmann, Mr W M Bell, Ms J E Falls, Mr D G Penno, Mr I F D Thacker, Ms C M Mcgee, Mr R J Cooke, Mr L Kotevski, Mr J K Martin, Mr J A Green, Mr J D Porter, Mr S K Todd.

Yankee Rose joins Inglis-sold fillies to have won the Sires’ Produce Peggy Jean, Yosei and Camarilla, as well as greats such as Tulloch, Eskimo Prince, Luskin Star and Snippets.

The next opportunity to get involved with an Inglis yearling is next week at the 2016 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, to be held at Newmarket in Sydney on 5, 6 and 7 April. For information on syndication and all aspects of racehorse ownership, contact Inglis Bloodstock Team on +61 2 9339 7999.
