Divertire Delivers Pride’s First Scone Classic

On the second and final day of the Scone Cup Carnival, Divertire took out the Group 3 Darley Dark Jewel Classic, marking the first win for her trainer Joe Pride at the Scone Race Club. The win was also the first victory for jockey Danny Beasley since his recent return to Australia from Singapore.

Pride was confident in the filly’s ability after she won a trial on Monday, commenting “Her trial was excellent; she really hit the line well.”

“She’s a good, honest mare, I thought she might need a wet track to win at this level but today she was excellent,” Pride said.

Bred and sold by Woodside Park at the 2011 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Divertire (Econsul x Paris Sweep) was bought for $21,000 by part-owner Peter Karlsson. The mare has now taken her career earnings past $320,000.

Other stakes wins by Inglis graduates today were That’s A Good Idea at Scone and Go Dreaming at Morphettville.

That’s A Good Idea (Flying Spur x Sunday Service) took out the Listed Scone Ortensia Stakes for trainers Peter and Paul Snowden. After failing to meet his reserve of $100,000 at the 2011 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale when offered from the draft of Kitchwin Hills, the gelding took his earnings past $500,000 with today’s win.

Go Dreaming (Beautiful Crown x No Faking) won the Listed SAJC Japan Trophy for trainer and part-owner Grant Kluske. The now five-year-old was sold by Inglis as a weanling for $7,000 from the draft of Holbrook Thoroughbreds to Kevin Drew, who looked to pinhook him through the Ambergate Farm draft at the 2011 Inglis Scone Yearling Sale. The gelding failed to meet his modest $5,000 reserve, however he has now earned close to $240,000 for his large group of owners.

209 yearlings will go under the hammer at the 2015 edition of the Inglis HTBA Scone Yearling Sale, which will commence at 10:30am tomorrow, Sunday 17 May at White Park.
