5th Dec 2014
City placed Lonhro mare Ephoral topped the Inglis Summer Thoroughbred Sale that was held in Sydney today, Friday 5 December 2014.
Ephoral is a half-sister to the dam of stakes winners Karacatis and Shamillion. She was sold as Lot 31 for $40,000 to Demetri Koureas, who will give the mare her chance at stud from next season.
“I’m very pleased that I was able to come to the sale today and get the one I wanted. Ephoral is a lovely mare that will go back to my place at Greenlands in the Upper Hunter and we’ll have her covered early next season by a commercial stallion,” said Demetri.
Other city performed gallopers to sell for more than $20,000 today were Step Lightly, Plenty Special, Monkstone and Velrosso.
Buyers from across NSW were active at the Summer Sale as was Qatar resident Dr John Heath, who picked up two race mares; Place des Vosges (by General Nediym) and Quelle Beaute (by Stratum).
The 2014 Summer Thoroughbred Sale finished with a clearance rate of 91%. A total of 75 lots were sold for $454,100.
Online bidding was very busy with 36 individuals active. 61 lots received an online bid with 22 eventually sold to online bidders for a total spend of $113,350.
Lots that passed-in are available for private sale via the Inglis Make-An-Offer service.
Inglis’ next mixed bloodstock sale comes up in Melbourne on Friday 12 December with the December Thoroughbred Sale. Supplementary entries for that sale close at 5pm today.
Next week’s Melbourne December Thoroughbred Sale will be broadcast on Inglis Sale Day live, with Online Bidding again available. Online bidding applications should be made by 5:00pm Thursday 11 December to ensure applications can be processed prior to the auction.
