Over 400 Weanlings Highlight Great Southern Catalogue

The largest selection of weanlings at any Southern Hemisphere sale in 2016 leads the Inglis Great Southern Sale catalogue, to be held on 19, 20, 21 and 22 June at Oaklands in Melbourne.

After a flood of entries the sale was extended to a four-day format, including two full days of weanlings on Sunday 19 and Monday 20 June, 290 of which are entered in the Platinum Session with X-Rays available for viewing.

“The popularity of the Platinum Session has skyrocketed this year, with vendors recognising the benefit in increasing buyer confidence by X-Raying their premium stock,” said Inglis Victorian Manager Simon Vivian.

Weanlings on offer are by a first-class collection of 109 stallions. Buyers will have the opportunity to secure progeny from 18 individual first season sires Declaration Of War, Shamus Award, Zoustar, The Factor, Sizzling, Epaulette, Dundeel, Eurozone, Camelot, Albrecht, Unencumbered, War, Fiorente, Polanski, Kuroshio, Fighting Sun, Akeed Mofeed and Niconoise.

Proven sires represented in the weanling section include Snitzel, High Chaparral, More Than Ready, Not A Single Doubt, Medaglia d’Oro, Choisir, Manhattan Rain, joining young sires All Too Hard, Pierro, Foxwedge and Sepoy.

“With unmatched depth and quality, Melbourne’s Great Southern Sale is the last and the best opportunity for pinhookers to buy weanlings in 2016 to resell as yearlings next year,” Vivian added.

Following the weanling sections, over 250 broodmares from Victoria’s leading farms will be offered, 200 of which are due to foal this season.

Sires represented in-utero include Written Tycoon, I Am Invincible, Nicconi, Hinchinbrook, Foxwedge, Sizzling, Helmet, Reward For Effort, Epaulette, Zoffany, Deep Field, Dalakhani, War, Starspangledbanner, Artie Schiller, Wandjina, Moshe, Unencumbered, Turffontein, All American, Toronado, Toorak Toff, Skilled and Master Of Design.

Over 120 lots of racing stock will join Group 1 producing sire Purrealist (Lot 662), and Group 2 producer Astronomer Royal (Lot 661), closely followed by stallion shares in Stratum and Duporth.
