There’s A Sure And Fast Way To Win A $50,000 Inglis Bonus

Trainer Bede Murray seems to have found the key to winning a $50,000 Inglis Race Series Bonus at Wagga Wagga as he collected the windfall for the second consecutive year thanks to an impressive display from juvenile Sure And Fast.

A $50,000 Inglis Race Series Bonus has been placed on the Open Two-Year-Old event on the Murrumbidgee Turf Club’s Wagga Town Plate Day each year for the past six years, and every year the bonus has been won.

“While I didn’t buy this colt with a specific goal, we do buy them with the bonus races in mind and I did target this race after his run in the Black Opal. Following his next start in Sydney I just had to keep him ticking over for this race. He’s a very nice horse,” said Bede Murray.

Murray won the Wagga bonus twelve months ago with Chosen Song and he travelled Sure And Fast to the Riverina today to grab the cash again.

“We won the race last year with Chosen Song, but it wasn’t as easy a win as this one. The Inglis Bonuses are a great thing, especially when you can win them,” Bede quipped.

Sure And Fast (Not A Single Doubt x Regal Attraction) came into today’s race off a sixth in the Listed Canberra Black Opal Stakes then a metropolitan placing behind subsequent Group 3 winner Bachman. Those form lines stood up strongly, as Blake Shine let the colt loose down the Wagga straight to a tremendous five length win.

The Not A Single Doubt colt netted his connections $66,360 plus trophies for today’s victory thanks to the $50,000 Inglis Race Series Bonus and $5,000 BOBS Bonus on top of the normal $11,360 first prize.

Bred by Mr C Tse, Sure And Fast was purchased by E B Murray Racing for $60,000 from the draft of Middlebrook Valley Lodge at the 2013 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling - Summer Book.

The two-year-old is raced by Murray Livestock Pty Ltd Syndicate (Mgr: E B Murray), D M Badger, Ms J E Mors, N Wu & John O'Brien. Mr O’Brien was also a part-owner in last year’s Wagga Bonus winner Chosen Song.

Other previous winners of the Inglis Bonus at Wagga were Elkaydee, Hendricus, Take This Waltz and Sincero.

The next chance to snap up an Inglis yearling to enter in the Inglis Race Series is at the 2014 Inglis HTBA Scone Yearling Sale on Sunday 18 May.
