92 Supplementary Entries Boost Friday’s August Sale In Melbourne

A parade of First Season Sires, an auction of stallion nominations and over 250 breeding and racing stock are all part of the 2014 Inglis Melbourne August Thoroughbred Sale this Friday 22 August.

“There is something for everyone in Melbourne this Friday. Everyone is welcome to attend and hopefully we’ll see some more future Group 1 winners sold, like Sonntag which went through this sale last year,” said Peter Heagney, Inglis Director.

92 supplementary entries have boosted the overall catalogued to 287 lots.

Proceedings stat at 10:00amwith a parade of stallions set to stand their first season at stud in Victoria: Fighting Sun, Fiorente, Marwingo, Polanski, Unusual Suspect, War and Unencumbered.

The August Thoroughbred Sale will then start at 10:30am with the Broodmares and Supplementary Broodmares.

Following the 101 broodmares will be the auctioning of six stallion nominations (Lots 79 to 84) with proceeds going towards supporting the Victorian breeding industry through Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria (TBC). The nominations are to Equiano, Fiorente, Helmet, Starspangledbanner, Unencumbered and Written Tycoon.

A wide variety of thoroughbred stock will then be offered for sale; 1 stallion prospect, 4 yearlings, 10 unbroken stock, 81 race fillies and 84 race colts and geldings.

Darley offered subsequent Queensland Derby winner Sonntag through their quality draft at last year’s sale and they’ll offer 23 lots this this Friday.

The Melbourne August Thoroughbred Sale will be broadcast on Inglis Sale Day Live, with Online Bidding and Make-An-Offer services available for those buyers unable to attend the sale. Online bidders are encouraged to physically inspect horses before bidding online. Online bidding applications should also be made by 5:00pm this Thursday 21 August, to ensure applications can be processed prior to the sale.
