Proven Performers Drive Summer Thoroughbred Demand

The Inglis Summer Thoroughbred Sale finalised selling at Newmarket in Sydney for 2015, achieving a clearance rate of 95%.

“Today’s sale has been a great end to what has been a stellar year in the Newmarket Sale ring,” said Inglis National Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy.

“The outstanding clearance rate was helped by over 80 individuals registered for online bidding today and obviously this has become a big part of Inglis mixed sales throughout the year,” D’Arcy said.

Topping the sale was Group 1 placed five-year-old Best Case (Savabeel x Ambitious) which was offered by his owners as Lot 54. Four bidders were still in the race over $60,000 with the gelding finally secured by Queensland-based Aquis Farm for $120,000.

“We’ve got 25 two-year-olds coming through our system, and are in the process of adding a few proven gallopers such as Best Case into the stable. We are excited for our clients to get him to Aquis Farm where our trainer Brian Guy will be able to plan his 2016 campaign, which will hopefully take in some of the top races in Queensland and New South Wales,” said Aquis Farm Racehorse and Sales Manager Kacy Fogden.

“It is great to see our friends from Aquis Farm buying such a well-performed gelding, we wish them luck with him on the racetrack in the future,” added D’Arcy.

The second top price was achieved by Lot 21, lightly raced three-year-old filly Moodhilla (Exceed And Excel x La Guichet), secured for $82,000. Purchasers Yu Long Investments have had recent success with another of their Inglis mixed sale purchases, Our Voodoo Prince, which won the Pakenham Cup on Saturday under the guidance of Darren Weir, who will take charge of Moodhilla also.

“Moodhilla was another Lot that had tremendous interest, reiterating the strength of the live auction sale with this type of filly off the track far exceeding her owner’s expectations,” D’Arcy added.

Last start city winner Beauty Hero (Sebring x Fate Rules) sold for $54,000. Sold as Lot 52 the three-year-old was secured by Victorian trainer Cameron Templeton.

The two Lots that passed-in at today's sale are available for private sale via the Inglis Make-An-Offer service.

The final Inglis sale in 2015 is the December Thoroughbred Sale, at Oaklands Complex in Melbourne next Friday 11 December. 140 Lots have been catalogued so far, with supplementary entries for that sale closing at 9.00am Monday 7 December.

The December Thoroughbred Sale will be broadcast on Inglis Sale Day live, with Online Bidding again available. Online bidding applications should be made by 5:00pm Thursday 10 December to ensure applications can be processed prior to the auction.
