Sale Overview

2026 HTBA Yearling Sale catalogue

The opportunity to acquire a yearling by one of the world’s best stallions will ensure maximum eyes are on this year’s Inglis HTBA Yearling Sale.

A yearling by Extreme Choice – who has one of the highest G1 winners-to-runners ratios in the world at one in every 25 runners, a strike rate higher than Galileo, Frankel and Dubawi – will be a standout at HTBA, which will be held at Riverside on Sunday April 19.

The Extreme Choice yearling in the Newgate Farm draft is one of 215 yearlings entered for the sale.

There are also yearlings by the likes of Alabama Express, All Too Hard, Anamoe, Capitalist, Castelvecchio, Cosmic Force, Dundeel, Extreme Warrior, Harry Angel, Hellbent, Home Affairs, Justify, Ole Kirk, So You Think, Star Turn, Stay Inside, Super Seth, Sword Of State, Tassort, Toronado, Trapeze Artist, Written By, Zousain etc.

The drafts will be presented by some of the leading producers in Australia, the likes of Widden, Vinery, Newgate, Riversdale, Segenhoe, Amarina, Fernrigg, Glenbeigh, Goodwood, Kingstar etc.

The HTBA Sale continues to provide buyers with late-season opportunities to purchase suitable yearlings for a far lesser outlay than the major yearling sales, but with the potential to generate significant returns.

Recent graduates of the Inglis HTBA Yearling Sale have won over $80,463,400 in prizemoney, more than three times their combined purchase price.

There are many examples, the likes of Boston Rocks – a $100,000 HTBA buy that is a Stakes winner of more than $600,000 in prizemoney - Cleo Cat, a G3 winner that was purchased for $50,000 and has since won $330,000 and Shezanalister, a $55,000 buy that’s now a G3 placed race mare with earnings of $526,000.

Add to that Tintookie, a $30,000 buy that has since won $500,000, Rocketing By was purchased for $22,000 and won $2,733,240, Monegal was a $3000 buy, earned her connections $686,895 and sold as a broodmare on Inglis Digital for $225,000, The Bopper cost $30,000 and won $555,000, Bazooka won $557,726 off a $14,000 purchase price and so on.

Almost the entire catalogue this year comes with state bonuses – 190 are BOBS eligible while others are VOBIS and QTIS qualified.

Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch encouraged buyers to review the catalogue, noting that the sale provides an important opportunity to find value in the market.

“We have a broad cross-section of stallions and vendors represented in the catalogue, which is pleasing,’’ Hutch said.

“The Inglis Yearling Sales Series has been strong to date this year and it has been really competitive for quality stock, so this sale gives buyers further access to commercial yearlings, whether buyers are still looking for horses to breeze in the spring, trial and trade, or just race for what is a fantastic pool of prizemoney in Australia.

“Another significant advantage of buying at the HTBA Sale is the discounted rate of qualifying for the $12m Inglis Race Series, with the cost of sign up 50% less than the select yearling sales.

“The value sign up still gives buyers full access to the Inglis Race Series which includes the $5m Xtra Bonus Series, the $1m Pink Bonus Series and the $2m Inglis Millennium etc.’’

Supplementary entries for the HTBA Yearling Sale close at 5pm Friday April 10 and will be offered at the end of the sale.
