Jukebox a hit at Caulfield

Jukebox asserted himself as one of Victoria’s leading 2YOs with a stunning victory in today’s $250,000 Restricted Listed Inglis Premier (1200m) at Caulfield.

Trained by Ciaron Maher, Jukebox (Snitzel x Jestatune) made it two wins from as many outings to skyrocket to the top of Blue Diamond betting at $7 with the TAB, equal favourite alongside fellow Inglis graduate Pariah.

It was an added celebration for Jukebox’s part-owner Col McKenna, who is celebrating his birthday trackside today.

Jukebox cost Ciaron Maher Racing $200,000 at last year’s Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the Blue Gum Farm draft.

This year’s Premier Sale at Oaklands runs for four days from Sunday February 26, the day after the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes.

And Maher hopes to attend Day 1 of Premier as the latest Blue Diamond-winning trainer, courtesy of Jukebox.

“He’s always been our benchmark two-year-old, he’s very professional and very natural’’ Maher said.

“Fitness wise he improved out of his first run and I still think there’s a bit of improvement there also. It’s three weeks into the Diamond now so it’s a good spacing.’’

Bred by Oakland Park Stud, Jukebox is by star Arrowfield stallion Snitzel out of black type-winning Rory’s Jester mare Jestatune.

He is the fifth of her six progeny to race, of which four are race winners.

Jestatune also has a Not A Single Doubt filly on the ground.

Jukebox was the 21st 2YO Stakes Winner for Snitzel and his 49th Stakes winner overall.

Inglis is offering 67 progeny of Snitzel in the upcoming major sales season – 10 at Inglis Classic, 13 at Inglis Premier and 44 at Inglis Easter.

On top of his share of the prizemoney today, Maher also earned himself a pair of SwarovskiOptik binoculars as the winning trainer of an Inglis Race Series event.

All yearlings sold or passed in at an Inglis Yearling Sale are eligible for nomination to the lucrative $5million Inglis Race Series. For information, visit inglis.com.au/races.

The next race in the Inglis Race Series is the $250,000 Restricted Listed Inglis Classic, at Randwick next Saturday (February 11).
