THIS weekend presents the final chance for would-be Inglis Scone Challenge contenders to secure their place in the $200,000 race run at Scone racecourse on May 19.
The third annual William Inglis & Son Autumn Thoroughbred Sale took place at Newmarket today with 111 horses generating gross receipts of $422,000 for an average of $3,802 at an excellent clearance rate of 95 per cent.
Results are what count and with past graduates like last Saturday’s Group 1 Australasian Oaks runner-up Zenarta, the Inglis Scone Yearling Sale has a lot to shout about.
The 2006 Australian Select Broodmare Sale concluded at Newmarket today with 474 lots achieving an average price of $53,668 and a total aggregate of $25,438,650.
Following the successful conclusion of the weanling sale, trade at the Easter Broodmare Sale got off to a healthy start at Newmarket this afternoon, with Belong To Me mare Lady Larissa bringing a final bid of $500,000 to top the session.
