The 2005 June Thoroughbred Sale continued today at Oaklands Junction with 246 broodmares selling for gross receipts of $2,419,850, at an average price of $9,836 and a very healthy clearance rate of 81%.
The strength of yesterday’s opening session of the 2005 June Weanling Sale continued today, with a total of 304 weanlings overall selling for a new record gross of $3,314,554 and a record average price of $10,903, up 15% on last year.

The much anticipated Vinery Stud Dispersal produced stellar results today when three mares - Mannington, Snowdrift (Fr) and In the Past (GB) - smashed the previous record price for a broodmare sold at public auction in Australasia, established by former champion two year old Burst, which made $900,000 at the Newhaven Park Stud Dispersal in 1996.
The 2005 Australian Easter Yearling Sale concluded today when a further 174 yearlings were sold at Newmarket, bringing the overall gross for the three day sale to $90,528,000, up by some 20 % on last year’s record figure of $75,477,500.
The Australian Easter Yearling Sale kicked off in spectacular fashion today with 173 yearlings generating gross turnover of $36,448,000 at an average price of $210,682.
